In and around Amsterdam you will find countless unique sights that are definitely worth a visit. From the Moco museum to the Rijksmuseum or from a trip through the canals to a visit to Madame Tusseau, everything is possible. But what few people know is that with the I AMsterdam city card you can make unlimited use of bus, tram and metro, have free entrance to the best museums and attractions in Amsterdam and benefit from extra discounts and offers. In our blog we would like to tell you more about these possibilities for an affordable weekend in Amsterdam.

How does it work?

The Amsterdam City Card consists of two separate parts, namely a museum section and a public transport section. The museum part of the City Card is automatically activated when you visit a museum or attractions for the first time. The public transport part is automatically activated when you use a tram, bus or metro for the first time. You can activate the City Card until 31 December 2018. After activation, each part is valid for 24, 48, 72 or 96 hours, depending on the type of card.

Discounts

With the card you can make free use of various attractions, so you can make a free cruise through the canals and visit Artis or NEMO for free. To view all the offers of the City Card, Amsterdam has provided a City Card map. This can easily be downloaded here.

Children

Most museums already offer free admission or discounts for children. The I amsterdam City Card offers substantial discounts for children over 10 years old. View the overview of entrance fees for children (PDF) at major museums and attractions in Amsterdam.
